Your 1 Day Weight Loss Challenge

Each day is a new opportunity to do something good for ourselves and those around us, and it all starts with our commitment to good health.

If you’re low in energy and it’s an effort just to get out of the house, how can you hope to create the kinds of opportunities and relationships in your life that you desire?

When your body is humming along like a finely tuned machine then you pass by life’s little problems without slowing down. They don’t even seem to matter anymore. You feel like you’re “King of the World” because, in your own life, you are!

Take a moment and breathe deeply now.

Be honest with yourself…

If so then you know that good health is a daily commitment you make to yourself. To keep in a positive frame of mind. To eat well. To move your body more. To be better than you were yesterday.

Are you willing to take the steps that are necessary to improve your health so you can improve your life and live your dreams?

If so, then here’s something simple you can do today to improve your health and make you more fit than you were yesterday:

Just for today… promise yourself that you will drink only water.

Water is one of the “7 Simple Steps to Permanent Weight Loss” that I talk about in my Weight Loss Hypnosis Seminars.

Did you know that most of what you drink (coffee, tea, and soft drinks) are all diuretics. They actually make you more thirsty, not less.

As if that weren’t bad enough, all the sugar in those drinks lowers your immune system and causes you to gain weight.

Did you know that it’s impossible to tell the difference between a feeling of hunger and a feeling of thirst? Oftentimes, when you eat, you’re really not hungry at all. You’re just thirsty but didn’t know it. The only way to tell the difference is drink a glass of water and wait a few minutes. You may find that’s all you needed.

Only water has the pure, cleansing properties necessary to sustain life and restore your good health.

So today, do yourself a favor and drink only water. It’s only for 1 day. It’ll be over before you know it. But you will have proved to yourself that you are in fact committed to losing that extra weight that’s been holding you back and gaining all the health you deserve.

What a great way to start the new year!

I’m challenging you to drink only water today and then post a comment on this page to share your experience and inspire others.

Small steps in the right direction can add up to big changes in your life.

Let’s see where this one takes us.

I really hope more people learn to trust this kind of advice. I usually only drink water (Perrier, if I MUST) but some days I will drink mostly diet pepsi…yuck! I’ve noticed that my body isn’t as “puffy” when I lay off the soda. I was going to get a diet pepsi today, but I’ll hold off on that until tommorow :)

This is a great way of shocking your system and doing a quick 24 hour detox. I recommend doing this same water only diet to my patients about once a month to every 6 weeks. Another variation that some hypoglycemic or diabetics may want to do is just use decaffinated organic green tea with a few drops of stevia or other non sugar sweetener with a zero glycemic index. Great stuff Josh! thanks

Thanks for the green tea tip Dr. Adam.

Over 20 Million people have diabetes in the Unites states alone.
That’s over 7 percent of our population with millions more at risk and unaware that they can take a few simple steps to regain their health before it’s too late.

This is a quote from the University of Rochester study on diabetes:

“Obesity causes approximately 300,000 deaths a year and costs an estimated $117 billion annually in direct and indirect costs. It is approaching epidemic status in the United States, with almost one-third of adults considered obese according to their body mass index (BMI), a 61 percent increase since 1991.”

Thanks to everyone for contributing :-)

Thank you for submitting your post to Carnival of Tips!

Is there a suggested minimum amount of water to drink, other than 8 glasses, since you’re not eating anything?

I’ll try the water all day today, I usally only drink 1 20 oz soda a day but I know it’s not good for me. I’ll let you know how I feel. :)

    Top Diva,

just keep yourself hydrated. A little bit of water all day long is better than chugging down a bottle full and then waiting until you’re thirsty again. When you feel thirsty, it’s already too late, you’re dehydrated. Drink before you feel thirsty and do so throughout the day. Don’t worry about keeping track of the number of glasses or anything. I always thought that was too much work for people anyway. It’s much better to focus on the desired result!

    Question!
On this 1 day weight loss challange, do you not eat anything! Just drink water?

    Hi Cathy,
good question. People have done it both ways. Either limit what you drink to water or limit what you consume to water. Obviously, a one day water fast is more detoxifying (as Dr. Adam pointed out in his comment). However, not everyone is able to do that, so limiting what you drink is a good first step. I wrote this article to be deliberately ambiguous so take it as you will and do what’s best for you.
